Punctuation

Concept, design and letterpress printing.
Punctuation is a self-directed project that engages with the exploration of the artistic potential of letterpress.
A series of prints in which punctuation marks varying in size and type are combined in a layout that echoes an expressive composition of abstract visual forms, aim to investigate an importance of the context for the definition of a typographic symbol.
In written English, punctuation marks are used to indicate the structure and organization of sentences and to clarify meaning. Absence of words eliminates the primary purpose of punctuation marks in a written language reducing them to abstract shapes. The texture of the wooden type is deliberately exposed, enhancing the tactile quality of the work.
